‘Championship level’: Two Newcastle stars singled out for blame after Leicester defeat
Newcastle United’s supporters have flooded to social media on Saturday afternoon, to make clear their frustrations with two members of the club’s playing squad.
Tielemans at the double
The Magpies were of course back in action a short time ago.
Still in the thick of the relegation battle in the Premier League, Eddie Howe’s men made the trip to the King Power Stadium, hopeful of building on a timely first 3-point haul of the campaign last time out.
When all was said and done, however, Newcastle were only plunged further into despair.
A dismal display over the course of the 90 minutes ultimately culminated in Leicester emerging on the right side of a 4-0 scoreline, owing to strikes from all of Youri Tielemans (2), Patson Daka and James Maddison.
Wonderful team goal from #LCFC 🔥
Sublime vision from Maddison, and Barnes unselfishly sets up Daka to double Leicester’s lead!
What a celebration too! 👏 pic.twitter.com/VY6FgloPyH

Lascelles & Willock targeted
In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close in the East Midlands, it should come as little surprise to hear of those of a Newcastle persuasion making their concerns well known across social media.
The Geordie outfit, after all, despite a recent big-money Saudi takeover, remain 19th in the Premier League table, three points from safety with just a solitary win to their name all season.
To say that the display put forth by Howe’s men this afternoon provided little reason for optimism, meanwhile, would be something of an understatement, with Newcastle having been outplayed in every aspect of the game.
Despite none of the club’s stars having exactly covered themselves in glory over the course of the 90 minutes, though, as alluded to above, two players in particular have since been singled out for the vast majority of the criticism.
The pair in question? Joe Willock and captain Jamaal Lascelles:
drop lascelles and willock

Lascelles . Willock out of their depth . We have been well beaten ! Lascelles big unit but can’t pass , can’t read the game and simply not premiership . Willock needs strength around him to flourish . We are poor . Unless a miracle we are not good enough.

Lascelles is a absolute disgrace just not Premier league level barely fucking championship take the armband off him #NUFC

Willock in there has been a total disaster. He may as well have not played.

Even by our low standards, this has been unbelievably shit.
Absolutely dire.
Lascelles and Wilock shouldn’t play for #NUFC again,
Willock especially disappointing. Seems to have decided to retire after getting his contract,
ASM also utterly pointless.#LEINEW

Willock and Lascelles are League 1 standard at best

Lascelles and Willock are a complete waste of a shirt. Still can’t believe this fool is our captain. Surely Fede plays ahead of him soon?
