“Program one completed. More to follow.. #ChakdaXpress @jhulangoswami @prositroy @kans26 @netflix_in @officialcsfilms,” the 34-year-old actress said in a caption alongside a photo of a cricket ball, as she announced the end of the program on Instagram.

The Netflix film, directed by Prosit Roy, charts Goswami’s journey as she rises through the ranks despite obstacles posed by misogynistic politics to fulfill her dream of playing cricket for India.

Goswami is one of the fastest bowlers in the history of women’s cricket and was ranked first in the ICC ODI Women’s Bowling Rankings.

In March – she continues to play for the Indian cricket team aged 39 – Goswami became the first bowler to win 250 wickets in ODI women’s cricket.

Anushka also produces Chakda’ Xpress with his brother Karnesh Ssharma through their production banner Clean Slate Filmz.

Sharma started filming for the Netflix movie last month. She previously worked with Roy on his 2018 supernatural horror film Pari. Sharma’s last acting gig was the Shah Rukh Khan directed film Zero in 2018.

Chakda’ Xpress was officially revealed in early 2022, with Netflix stating that filming would begin soon.

“At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the world stage, it was very difficult for women to think about taking up the sport,” Sharma said in a statement prepared at the time. . “This film is a dramatic account of several examples that have shaped her life and also women’s cricket.

“From support systems to facilities, to having a steady income playing the game, and even having a future in cricket – very little has pushed Indian women into cricket as that profession.

“Jhulan had an extremely uncertain fighting and cricketing career and she remained motivated to make her country proud. She worked to change the stereotype that women cannot make a career playing cricket in India so the next generation of girls have a better playing field.

“Her life is a living testimony that passion and perseverance triumph over all adversity and Chakda’ Xpress is the most definitive look into the not-so-rosy world of women’s cricket at the time.

“There is still a lot of work to do and we have to give them the best so that the sport can flourish for women in India.”

Chakda’ Xpress will premiere on Netflix. No release window, let alone a date, has been set.
