BT announce Serie A TV deal until 2024

BT get Serie A deal

BT Sport have continued to extend their footballing coverage by agreeing a deal to broadcast the Serie A until 2024.

In a tweet, the agency announced that they have agreed a deal to broadcast 5 live games per weekend, as well as a whole new Serie A show, hosted by James Richardson.

In a report on their site, Rachel Knight, Sports Rights Director at BT Sport, said:

“European football has always been an important part of our line-up, with Serie A now joining our exclusive coverage of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League, alongside France’s Ligue 1.”

Ligue 1 rivals Sky’s Bundesliga news

The news from BT rivals their biggest competitors, Sky Sports, who announced a deal to stream the German Bundesliga for the next four seasons.

However, with BT sport also the home of Ligue 1, purveyors as European football may be drawn to turning over. An all-star cast of Mbappe, Neymar, Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Ramos is set to be joined by Lionel Messi, who has been released by Barcelona.

The Premier League is largely on Sky Sports (with some games on BT and Amazon Prime), meaning that to watch the full season fans will already have to fork out for multiple channels. However, with the other major European leagues now being added, it may start to feel as though each is becoming more bang for your buck.

Will you be watching the Serie A this season?
