Bruno Fernandes names two Manchester United youngsters who are set for ‘brilliant future’

Fernandes & Man United

The signing of Bruno Fernandes has proven to be one of the best bits of business Manchester United have done in years.

The Portuguese arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in January of 2020, and has since gone on to completely dominate the English top-flight.

Fernandes, of course, played a key role in United securing a Champions League berth in 2019/20.

And the midfield maestro was once again in top form this past season.

In total, Fernandes netted 28 and assisted 17 in 58 outings across all competitions during 2020/21, with said impressive form seeing Fernandes named as Man United’s Player of the Year back in May:

Now, the Manchester United standout has been discussing the next generation of stars currently at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese would take part in a Q & A recently on Manchester United’s official website.

When taking part in said Q & A, Fernandes was asked how much the young players have impressed during pre-season so far.

And this would see Fernandes go on to state that both Anthony Elanga and James Garner will have a brilliant future:

“I think we know some of them already. Jimmy Garner, I think is a really good player, I really like him and the way he kicks the ball. He’s really aggressive off the ball too. [Anthony] Elanga was already playing with us and this pre-season he has been brilliant.

“He’s a nice kid, works hard and is really humble and I think he’s deserving of everything that’s happening to him. I see a brilliant future for him and Jimmy too, and also for all the other kids.”

Elanga would make his senior United debut at the back end of 2020/21, featuring for 66 minutes v Leicester City in the league.

He then scored his first goal on the final day of the season vs Wolves and has since netted vs both QPR and Brentford during pre-season.

Garner, meanwhile, spent last campaign on loan in the Championship with Watford and then Nottingham Forest.
