Brighton boss Graham Potter provides update on Tariq Lamptey
Brighton have had a decent start to their 2021/22 campaign.
The Seagulls began the season by picking up a 2-1 win over Burnley, before then seeing off newly promoted Watford in their second league outing of the campaign.
Graham Potter and co. then booked their spot in the 3rd round of the League Cup by beating Championship outfit Cardiff 2-0.
However, before the international break, Brighton fell to their first defeat of the season, losing 2-0 to Rafa Benitez’s Everton.
Potter provides Lamptey update
When the Premier League returns next week, Brighton are set to face off with Brentford on Saturday the 11th of September.
They are then at home to Leicester City on September 19th before taking on Swansea in the League Cup on the 22nd of September.
Brighton then round out their September clashes with a league meeting with bitter rivals Crystal Palace on the 27th.
And, it is during this next set of games that Graham Potter looks to expect Tariq Lamptey to return.
The right-back had a brilliant start to 2020/21 and was especially effective going forward. However, the Englishman would pick up an injury in December that has seen him sidelined since.
But, when speaking about Lamptey returning recently, Potter suggested he was hopeful the defender will be back in the next block of games:
“Whether it is directly after but we are hopeful in that next block of games.
“It depends on how he goes in the next few weeks. He is getting stronger, is getting incorporated more into the group, so we shall see.”
