Brentford manager Thomas Frank has, on Friday, spoken out over the possibility of Christian Eriksen extending his stay with the club.

Danish international Eriksen of course put pen to paper on a short-term deal in west London during the January transfer window.

This marked a remarkable return to not only football, but also the Premier League for the former Tottenham standout, after his frightening cardiac arrest at last summer’s European Championships brought the sport to a grinding halt.

Eriksen, in turn, has since gone on to feature in a trio of outings for Brentford, even chipping in with an assist last time out as the midfielder continues to work his way back towards full fitness.

Murmurs in the media, in turn, have pointed towards those in a position of power in the English capital already leaning towards attempting to tie the club’s latest addition down for the long-term.

The Times, for one, have assured that the Bees are ‘confident’ in their chances of agreeing to fresh terms ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

This comes with Eriksen’s current deal due to expire in the summer.

Speaking in a press conference on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his new midfield weapon’s future was put to Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

And the Dane was not shy in confirming that all at the club are hopeful of Eriksen extending his stay beyond the conclusion of the season:

Back in the goals

Frank’s comments of course come fresh on the back of Eriksen announcing himself back onto football’s international stage in style this past weekend.

After being afforded a spot in Denmark’s squad for the nation’s latest round of friendly fixtures, the ex-Inter Milan man was introduced to the fray at the midway point of a showdown with the Netherlands.

And, remarkably, it took Eriksen just two minutes to make a telling impact, directing home a trademark strike from 12 yards with his very first touch of the game:
