Brenden Aaronson ready for Premier League challenge as Leeds interest remains considerable

The Premier League may play host to another rising American starlet as Leeds United continues their pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg forward and United States international Brenden Aaronson.

Thankfully for the Elland Road outfit, the 21-year-old native of New Jersey is just as keen on a move to the top flight of English football according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay.

“Leeds want him at Elland Road but they are willing to wait until the summer to sign him if Salzburg maintain their stance that the midfielder isn’t for sale this window. Aaronson is very interested in a move to England but Salzburg are under no pressure to let him go.”

Aaronson would add his name to a credible list of wide options at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa which already includes rising star and Brazilian international Raphinha, Jack Harrison, and summer signing Dan James. But with a heavy interest in Raphinha already, it is plausible to suggest that Aaronson could be a replacement as much as an additive bonus to the squad.

European interest benefitting the USMNT

Should Brenden Aaronson join Christian Pulisic and Josh Sargent in plying their trade in the Premier League, it will be yet another American international that has earned a move to a top league in Europe. Something that the USMNT stands to benefit as they are locked in a struggle with rivals Mexico as well as the rising power of Canada to become the leading light in CONCACAF.

Along with the aforementioned trio, the likes of Ricardo Pepi, Timothy Weah, Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, Sergiño Dest, Chris Richards, Walker Zimmerman, and Zach Steffen all ply their trades in Germany, France, Spain, or Italy.

With a young core of players that are on the books of clubs such as Juventus, Manchester City, Chelsea, LOSC Lille, Valencia, Barcelona, and RB Leipzig, the future certainly is bright for the United States when it comes to their desire to finally leave their mark on the footballing world.
