Today, “Black Adam” is now streaming on HBO Max, giving more fans a chance to watch DC’s anti-hero flick starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“Black Adam” premiered in theaters on October 21. It centers on Teth Adam (Johnson), a superhuman from ancient Kahndaq who used his godlike powers for revenge and was then promptly imprisoned. After nearly 5,000 years, today’s archaeologists free Adam so he can help save Kahndaq from the Intergang crime syndicate. However, he is provoked by the Justice Society: Doctor Fate (played by Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).

While the “Shazam!” The spin-off was praised by some, many critics and fans were disappointed with the film. Glen Weldon of NPR called Johnson’s performance “under-seasoned” and “heavy”. IndieWire reporter David Ehrlich called “Black Adam” a “lifeless spectacle” and called the characters “a cheap photocopy of one from Gotham or the [Marvel Cinematic Universe].”

Additionally, “Black Adam” performed poorly at the box office, earning $400 million worldwide against a budget of $195 million – which does not include marketing and other costs related to promotion and the distribution. However, Johnson disputed claims that “Black Adam” would lose between $50 million and $100 million. In a tweetJohnson cited financiers, saying “Black Adam” would fetch between $52 million and $72 million.

There’s still hope for “Black Adam” to do well now that it’s streaming on HBO Max for its millions of subscribers. Additionally, the film is making its streaming debut during the holiday season, which could boost its chances.

Another superhero movie with an antihero, “Morbius” was a box office flop and embarrassingly bombed twice in theaters, earning just $163 million worldwide and $74 million in dollars in the country with a budget of $75 million. Although it didn’t make a satisfying profit, Sony luckily struck a multi-year deal with Netflix. So the movie was a hit after all. “Morbius” cracked Netflix’s Top 10 list when it debuted on the service in September.
