‘Big concern’ – Mikel Arteta provides post-Palace injury update on Arsenal’s Thomas Partey
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the fitness of Thomas Partey, on the back of his side’s meeting with Crystal Palace.
Midfielder Partey, of course, set alarm bells ringing across the Gunners fanbase earlier this evening.
This came after the Ghanaian, amid a frankly woeful individual display, pulled up late in the action at Selhurst Park, before limping out of the action with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
Speaking to the media post-match, manager Mikel Arteta, in turn, was inevitably asked for an update on his star midfielder’s wellbeing.
And, in news which will no doubt be met with panic on the part of the Arsenal faithful, Arteta went on to admit that he is ‘concerned’, owing to Partey’s issue having come in the same area as a previous injury suffered by the ex-Atletico Madrid man earlier this season:
Asked Arteta about severity of Partey injury: “I don’t know. He felt something in the same area he got injured previously, so a big concern.”

Mateta amongst the goals
The fresh fitness concern suffered by the club’s star man in the middle of the park, though, marked just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Arsenal’s woes on Monday evening.
This comes with the north Londoners having seen their Premier League top-4 hopes dealt a considerable blow, courtesy of a deserved defeat at Selhurst Park.
Goals on the part of all of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha culminated in Crystal Palace emerging on the right side of a head-turning 3-0 result, on an altogether special night for Eagles boss and Gunners icon Patrick Vieira.
