Don’t worry I tested

Not all types of prepared foods freeze or travel well. But the barbecue, which is mostly slow-cooked, is well suited for a cross-country trip. That, added to the time it takes to do a real barbecue at home – and how difficult it can be – makes it a great candidate for ordering online. Plus, you can score expertly prepared barbecue dinners for up to eight people for less than $100.

To make sure everything will go as planned, I ordered a feast of ribs, brisket and burnt brisket from the iconic Joe’s K.C. through Goldbelly. Everything arrived frozen and neatly packaged with instructions for heating and serving. I seared the tender pork ribs on the grill with some of the included extra sauce and heated the burnt ends and brisket on the same grill wrapped in foil. Everything turned out incredibly tender and bursting with rich, smoky flavors.

Oh, and I barely had to lift a finger.

If you’re looking for a real mic drop for your barbecue (but without the work), I can’t recommend Joe enough. But there is a a multitude of easy options on Goldbelly.

This might be the best deal out of all of Goldbelly’s barbecue deals. Dinosaur has made a name for itself producing delicious ribs and pork in upstate New York, but you can get the goods wherever you live.

The sampler includes two types of meat (ribs, sausage, pork shoulder, brisket, or chicken, some of which cost extra), plus a pound of beans and chili, and two bottles of sauce. You can even add homemade pickles or more sauces to your order for an additional charge.

That’s enough food for eight (probably more) for $100. I’m not sure you can make all this food of to scratch for this cheap.

While you’re at it, you might want to order some extra sides and there’s nothing nicer than mac and cheese. Rafetto’s excellent offering uses a velvety blend of strong yellow cheddar and American cheese. Top it with breadcrumbs or Ritz crackers, pop it in the oven for 25 minutes, and you’ll have some seriously happy guests.
