Belgian striker appears to drop Chelsea transfer hint
Club Brugge forward Charles De Ketelaere has recently hinted that he could be open to a move to Chelsea.
De Ketelaere drops Chelsea hint
As reported by football.london, former player turned Club Brugge scout Paul Courant said about De Ketelaere recently:
“Put Charles at Chelsea tomorrow and he will play immediately. Especially, under that trainer [Thomas Tuchel].”
Now, in a recent interview, De Ketelaere has addressed that claim and seemed to suggest he would be open to a transfer if Chelsea came in with an offer.
“In soccer, you have to listen to everyone.
“That’s what I’m going to do, too, if I have to make a choice. If tomorrow an absolute top club wants me, I might decide to sign there.”
Who is Charles De Ketelaere?
Most Chelsea fans, though, are likely not too familiar with De Ketelaere. So who is the youngster?
De Ketelaere is a 20-year-old striker who is currently plying his trade in Belgium with one of their top sides, Club Brugge.
De Ketelaere is Brugge native and has spent his entire career on the club’s books.
Despite only being 20, De Ketelaere has already notched 98 outings for his boyhood club.
In said ties, De Ketelaere has scored 17 and provided 17 assists. This season, though, has been one of De Ketelaere’s best so far.
Across 27 outings the young striker has scored 10 and assisted seven.
De Ketelaere has also earned his debut for Belgium’s senior side. He was handed his first cap in November of 2020 and has since notched a further three appearances, scoring one goal in the process.
De Ketelaere is under contract with Club Brugge until the summer of 2024.
