Kimmich dealing with after-effects of Covid

Bayern Munich star midfielder and German international Joshua Kimmich is reportedly dealing with the after-effects of Covid-19.

As reported by BBC Sport, Kimmich is dealing with residual lung issues in the wake of testing positive for the virus back in November.

His diagnosis has resulted in the former VfB Stuttgart youth product failing to feature for Bayern in their last five competitive fixtures across all competitions, including a 3-2 win against Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund last weekend.

According to Kimmich, he is fine and ready to get back in the thick of it for the Bavarian giants despite dealing with “infiltration” in his lungs;

“I’m dying to get started and to be with the team. However, I have to be patient a little longer. I’ll watch the remaining three games this year from the couch and we’ll attack together again from January.”

Kimmich was known to be critical of receiving the Covid vaccine in the past, and though he previously stated that he would look to get it in the future, it remains to be seen when that might be.

Bayern play their part in Barcelona’s Champions League exit

Bayern Munich can go into their weekend Bundesliga program with their heads held high after Julian Nagelsmann’s Bavarian giants soundly dispatched Barcelona to the tune of a 3-0 win at the Allianz Arena last night.

The German champions played their part in ousting the Spanish giants from this years Champions League, which was confirmed after SL Benfica defeated Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in front of their home support.

That result came off the back of a swashbuckling 3-2 win against German rivals Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, which extended their domestic lead to four points after Die Schwarzgelben has closed the gap to just a single point.

Both results continue to confirm the club’s status as arguably the top club on the continent across the last two seasons, and continues silverware service under Nagelsmann in his first season in charge is wholeheartedly expected.
