Barcelona’s plans for on-loan Yusuf Demir confirmed
A fresh insight into the plans of Spanish giants Barcelona for on-loan starlet Yusuf Demir has, on Friday, been provided.
Torres amongst targets
The subject of incomings and outgoings alike has of course proven a major topic of conversation when it comes to matters at the Camp Nou of late.
This comes as the latest instillation on the Blaugrana’s bench, club legend Xavi, sets about building a squad capable of reestablishing itself at the top of not only Spanish, but European football as a whole.
In turn, a whole host of high-profile stars, particularly in the attacking third, have been tipped to make the move to the Catalan capital during the January transfer window.
The most persistent links have surrounded Manchester City standout Ferran Torres, a player whom club president Joan Laporta has already confirmed has indeed emerged as a winter target:
‘He [Torres] is one of the players we have in our sights, but there are many others. You have to wait and see how everything goes,’ the Barcelona chief explained to TV3.
Demir on the move
When it comes to potential departures from Catalunya, meanwhile, the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Sergino Dest have all been named as possible avenues towards raising much-needed funds.
If the latest word stemming from Spain on Friday is anything to go by, though, then it is in fact another member of Xavi’s ranks who looks set for pastures new following the turn of the year.
The player in question? Yusuf Demir.
Attacker Demir made the move to the Camp Nou on loan during the summer, after emerging as one of the hottest properties in European football owing to his efforts with Rapid Wien in the teen’s home country of Austria.
He has since managed a solid if unspectacular haul of nine appearances across all competitions, with Demir’s dancing feet and unrelenting forward drive having piqued the attentions of many a Barcelona supporter.
Such efforts, however, do not appear to have proven sufficient in convincing those in a position of power at the club of his long-term prospects in the Catalan capital.
In turn, as per journalist Albert Roge, citing Diario Sport, Demir will see his season-long loan cut short during the winter window.
From here, the 18-year-old will return to base with Rapid Wien, ahead of a likely Bundesliga switch before the January market slams shut.
