Barcelona’s injury nightmare continues: Midfield starlet forced off vs Betis
La Liga giants Barcelona have, on Saturday been dealt yet another concerning blow on the personnel front.
The subject of the treatment table at the Camp Nou has of course proven a major talking point over the early months of the campaign.
This comes with Barca having been forced to deal with a frankly alarming stretch of torrid luck on the injury front.
Despite the season being just months old, already, all of Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba, Sergino Dest, Alejandro Balde, Sergi Roberto, Oscar Mingueza, Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Philippe Coutiinho, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, Martin Braithwaite and Sergio Aguero have been forced into spells on the sidelines, owing to one issue or another.
In turn, it is safe to say that, as the campaign rolls into the hectic festive fixture list, the last thing which newly-appointed Blaugrana boss Xavi Hernandez would have wanted was another fresh injury concern.
As alluded to above, though, on Saturday, this is precisely what has been forthcoming in the Catalan capital.
Barca are of course currently locked in action, in a La Liga showdown with Real Betis.
As the half-time whistle approaches at the Camp Nou, the scoreline remains locked at 0-0, with clear-cut chances few and far between.
The afternoon’s main talking point, instead, has surrounded the enforced departure of midfield starlet Gavi from proceedings.
After stumbling into an opposing Betis star, Gavi’s head snapped back in nasty fashion, ultimately culminating in the Spanish international being carried from the field of play by means of a stretcher:

It now remains to be seen whether Gavi faces any kind of extended spell on the sidelines.
