Barcelona provide Gerard Pique injury update
Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Friday afternoon, provided an update on the fitness of key defender Gerard Pique.
Veteran stopper Pique of course set alarm bells ringing across the Blaugrana landscape on Thursday night, after limping out of proceedings early in the club’s Europa League quarter-final first-leg meeting with Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.
At the time, the Catalans released a statement, confirming that the 35-year-old had picked up an adductor issue in his left leg.
And now, as alluded to above, a further insight into pique’s wellbeing has been provided.
In a follow-up announcement across the club’s social media platforms, Barcelona have confirmed that Pique, on the back of fresh medical tests carried out this afternoon, is indeed facing a spell on the sidelines with ‘a left adductor tendinopathy’:

Torres clinches share of the spoils
Thankfully for Xavi Hernandez and co, their long-time defensive leader’s premature departure from the action did not prove overly costly in the club’s meeting with the aforementioned Eintracht on Thursday.
This came as Barcelona extended their unbeaten stretch to a hefty 14 outings across all competitions, albeit en route to a 1-1 stalemate.
