Barcelona dealt Coutinho transfer blow as Adama deal weighed up

Barcelona have been dealt a pair of mixed updates on the transfer front for the summer, according to Spanish press.

The first of those surrounds Philippe Coutinho, who has been in blistering form since he joined Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa on loan in January.

Returning to the Premier League following a disastrous spell with Barca, Coutinho has already shown he is once again comfortably at home in the English top flight. A goal and two assists against Leeds United added to his opener that he scored against Manchester United, although both games ultimately ended in draws.

101 reported that Villa had a buy option of around 40 million euros but, for practical reasons, this was unlikely to be triggered, and this has been echoed in Spanish press. According to Sport, while the buyout clause does exist, ‘everything points to the fact that if Aston Villa decides to keep him, it will do so at a price lower than those stipulated 40 million’.

Should Coutinho continue to shine for Villa, this value will only increase, but it is unlikely to reach the full amount.

Adama swap deal?

Meanwhile, there is better news on the Adama Traore front, with reports suggesting that his loan move could be made permanent in part-exchange for Fransisco Trincao, currently on loan at Wolves.

That is according to Sport [Football Espana], who claim that the Catalan club are already looking into making a deal for Traore permanent. It could well prove the best offer Wolves get too, with the Spaniard out of contract in 2023 and showing no keenness to renew his deal at Molineux.

Trincao, on the other hand, has impressed while in the midlands under Bruno Lage, and at 22 years old, has plenty of potential should Wolves be able to keep hold of him.
