
Asus Zenfone 8 and 8 Flip now receive Android 13
Asus has just started seeding stable Android 13 on its 2021 flagships – the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip. The update also comes with the latest January 2023 security patch.
The firmware version is 33.0210.0210.210 and it not only brings the intrinsic features of Android 13, but it also adds a few extras courtesy of Asus. The company was kind enough to post the full changelog on their support website.
- System upgraded to Android 13.
- Revamped mobile manager, contacts, phone, emergency dialer, file manager, calculator, clock, gallery, weather, sound recorder, settings, data transfer, local backup, etc.
- Quick settings panel, notification bar and volume panel adjusted to Android 13 design
- Added notification permission functionality. You can adjust the permission for each app in Apps & Notifications settings.
- System clipboard added “auto-delete” and editor features.
- Added QR code scanner option for lock screen shortcut feature and control feature from locked device in security and lock screen setting.
- Depending on the Digital Wellbeing setting, the system color scheme can be set to be automatically switched by the bedtime option.
- Adjusted vibration and haptic force setting, display setting and font size and navigation white bar width/length when choosing gesture navigation.
- Changed Blocked Numbers setting in Phone to store behavior. You will not receive calls or texts from blocked numbers.
- Removed call duration setting.
- Replaced original style settings with new wallpaper and style settings – Remove shape option, support themed icons and system color is reset to blue.
- Added quick link sharing feature in ASUS Launcher.
- Added Asus customization preferences setting. Allows applying the collection of commonly used customization settings with a single click.
- Removed “Calm” and “Elegant” options from the power button menu style setting.
- Adjusted the design of the keypad and contact details page in the Phone app to display information more clearly.
- Some third-party apps are not yet compatible with Android 13.
- Upgrade system modes to the latest version, including “High Performance”, “Dynamic”, “Durable” and “Ultra Durable”. Game Genie is also upgraded to the latest version, to enable quick switching of system modes in games.
