Aston Villa’s two January midfield targets revealed as Steven Gerrard revolution continues

Aston Villa is a club on the come after Steven Gerrard’s Villains left Goodison Park with all three points earlier today, which ends with them in the top half of the Premier League and on course under one of the league’s greatest-ever players.

But recent transfer links at Villa Park show a determined hierarchy willing to provide the young manager with a platform to make a name for himself on the touchline in England after few have been more influential on the pitch.

According to the Daily Mail’s Tom Collomossa, Villa is tracking Juventus’ Uruguayan international midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur and discussions are well underway between both parties.

Bentancur has spent five successful years in Turin but Juventus remain open to offers for the former Boca Juniors standout and Gerrard could be set to pounce as the 24-year-old is high on his wanted list before the conclusion of the January window.

With Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne already in the door this winter, further business could provide a significant boost in the hopes the club makes a late surge up the table and an outside shot at a top-seven finish.

Marseille starlet on Aston Villa’s radar

And the rumors of additions coming in before the conclusion of the winter transfer period do not stop with just Rodrigo Bentancur either as Aston Villa is also said to be eyeing Olympique de Marseille starlet Boubacar Kamara according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

Interest in Kamara is high across England and the continent with Manchester United, AS Roma, and West Ham among the clubs that are eyeing a potential move for the French U21 international with the Marseille-native out of contract in the summer and seemingly no avenue for renewal at the Orange Vélodrome.

Should the unexpected occur and Aston Villa secure not one but both midfield transfer targets, how might the Villains line up under Steven Gerrard for the remainder of the 2021-22 Premier League season? See Below. It’s pretty tasty.
