As Man City prepare record-breaking Harry Kane bid, update on return to Spurs training surfaces

A pair of significant updates in the Harry Kane saga have, on Thursday, come to the fore online.

The subject of Kane’s future has of course taken centre stage in the English media to this point in the summer.

This comes with Tottenham’s talisman, who turned 28 just days ago, having come to the conclusion that the time has come to depart North London, in search of major silverware.

A whole host of clubs, in turn, were inevitably tipped to launch offensives for the English international in the weeks following his announcement.

For some time now, though, it has been clear that, if Kane does indeed manage to secure a Spurs exit ahead of next season, it will be for one club and one club only – Manchester City.

The Premier League champions are understood to be extremely keen on the hitman’s signature, following the departure of long-time first-choice striker Sergio Aguero.

And, after already seeing a £100 million offer for Kane turned down, the Sky Blues are now ready to return with a substantially improved proposal.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the board at the Etihad are preparing to table an offer worth no less than €150 million for Spurs’ star man:

In the meantime, though, the attentions of those in Manchester and North London alike will of course turn back towards matters on the pitch.

Coincidentally, City and Tottenham are set to get their respective Premier League campaigns underway in a highly anticipated showdown in the capital on Sunday evening.

Kane’s potential participation in the clash has long remained up in the air, albeit with Nuno Espirito Santo having assured just days ago that his attacking spearhead will be an ‘option’ versus the champions.

And now, on Thursday, a fresh update on the situation has been forthcoming.

As revealed by the reliable Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard, Kane was due to undertake his Day 5 PCR Covid-19 test on Thursday, with a negative result likely to see the 28-year-old rejoin Spurs training tomorrow morning.

In theory, he should therefore be available to at least come off the bench versus Man City.
