As Juventus lie in wait, Jorginho’s agent reveals ‘priority’ in Chelsea contract talks

The representative of Chelsea star Jorginho has provided an update on his client’s future, once more refusing to rule out the possibility of a return to Serie A.

The subject of Jorginho’s contract has, of course, emerged as something of a pressing matter at Stamford Bridge over recent months.

This comes with the 30-year-old, a crucial member of Thomas Tuchel’s ranks in the middle of the park, set to see his current terms expire in the summer of 2023.

This means that, should they fail to tie him down to a fresh deal in advance, this summer could mark Chelsea’s final opportunity to secure a reasonable return for the former Napoli standout.

Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his client’s situation at Stamford Bridge was put to Jorginho’s agent.

In quotes secured by Italian transfer expert Nico Schira, Joao Santos first confirmed that the midfielder’s ‘priority’ remains committing to a contract extension with Chelsea.

Should such a development not be forthcoming, however, then Jorginho appears to have his sights set firmly on a return to Serie A:

Qatar hopes

Turning attentions back towards the pitch, Jorginho’s focus, later today, will be firmly fixated on matters on the international stage.

This comes with Roberto Mancini’s Italy, of course crowned champions of Europe just last summer, set to take on North Macedonia at the Stadio Renzo Barbera in Palermo.

The clash comes amid the Azzurri’s ongoing efforts to book a spot at this year’s Qatar World Cup, with the winners of the tie set to take on their equivalents from another of Thursday’s playoff fixtures – Portugal versus Turkey.
