Arsenal’s plan for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with transfer window looming

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in the cold

Stripped of the Arsenal captaincy and training on his own, tt has been one hell of a fall from grace for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the last fortnight, coinciding with an upturn in the Gunners form that has seen them win three games on the bounce.

After a disciplinary breach, allegedly returning from France a day late, the future looks bleak for the Gabon star, with no indication that he will be reintegrated into the first team any time soon.

And Aubameyang himself made his opinions clear, posting a Christmas photo with a thinly veiled swing at the situation, adding the caption “family first”.

But with 18 months left on his contract, which he signed after that FA Cup win, and seemingly no future left under Mikel Arteta, he could represent a burning hole in the Arsenal pocket.

Previously inconceivable, Mikel Arteta is allegedly willing to hold off on buying a new striker, instead placing his faith in Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah until the summer, when both their contracts are up.

Would this be the right move, or do the Gunners need to go big on a frontman this month?
