Arsenal recall loanee ahead of permanent January departure

Arsenal set to add reinforcements in January?

Arsenal look ready to battle for a spot in the top four once again, after disappointing back to back 8th place finishes across the last two seasons.

To do so, they could well look to strengthen in January, with four first team players having departed to the Africa Cup of Nations, including two of four senior midfielders, leaving the Gunners looking a little light in the middle of the pitch.

However, attention has turned to outs before they look at potential incomings.

Youngster departs

One man who will not be an Arsenal player for much longer, however, is 20 year old Harvey Clarke.

The youngster has spent the first half of the season on loan at Ross County, where he has impressed, with three goals and two assists from right-back.

Such have been the quality of his performances, that they have caught the eye of fellow SPL side Hibernian, who have reached an agreement with Arsenal for his permanent transfer to Hibs.

This means that he has now been recalled by Arsenal in anticipation for this move, and while no fee is mentioned, with Clarke’s north London contract up in just six months time, the amount is likely to be nominal.

Nevertheless, it is one less thing for the Gunners to have to worry about in the summer.
