Arsenal offered chance to sign Alvaro Morata

Arsenal offered chance to sign Alvaro Morata

Recent reports have linked yet another striker with a move to Arsenal.

The man grabbing the headlines on this occasion is Alvaro Morata, currently on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid.

According to The Times, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign former Alvaro Morata as they attempt to bring in a striker ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

The deal, according to The Times, would be a loan move. However, both Tottenham and Newcastle have also been offered the chance to sign the Spaniard.

Morata, despite a positive start, ending up having a pretty dire career in England with Chelsea. But would Arsenal have him back on a temporary basis?

The Gunners’ striking department is subpar at the moment, despite being linked with countless players of late.

Arsenal’s striker hunt

ESPN  provided the lowdown on Arsenal’s striker hunt situation recently and, for the most part, the news doesn’t look great.

It is claimed that Arsenal have been told that they will have to pay Alexander Isak’s €90 million release clause if they want to sign the Real Sociedad striker this month.

Lille’s Jonathan David is another player under consideration, but the Ligue 1 club want to wait until the summer to sell him.

Elsewhere, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Victor Osimhen and Ollie Watkins are names that have been discussed. However, ESPN claim that Arsenal face an uphill battle to convince any of those players’ clubs to sanction sales in the middle of the season.

Finally, Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic is touted as a short-term alternative.

With a late window move for a big name generally unlikely in January windows, perhaps Arsenal should take a chance on Morata for the rest of 2021/22 because, after all, it is only a loan move.

This would then likely give Mikel Arteta and co. some breathing space to focus on landing a main target in the summer.
