Arsenal make classy gesture to Derby amid Rams’ financial struggles

Derby enter administration

Derby County have had a nightmare start to the 2021/22 season.

The Rams were already struggling for form before announcing that they had gone into administration last month.

As a result, Derby have been deducted 12 points by the EFL which now means that they are currently on two points from 11 league games and seven points away from safety.

Andrew Hosking, Carl Jackson and Andrew Andronikou, managing directors at business advisory firm Quantuma, have been appointed joint administrators and the former of that trio had this to say on the situation:

“We are in the early stages of assessing the options available to the club and would invite any interested parties to come forward,” said Hosking.

“Our immediate objectives are to ensure the club completes all its fixtures in the Championship this season and finding interested parties to safeguard the club and its employees.”

Arsenal’s help Derby out

Amid Derby’s struggles, Premier League outfit Arsenal have made a pretty classy gesture to the Rams.

Defensive midfielder Krystian Bielik would sign for Derby from Arsenal back in August of 2019.

As reported by the Telegraph, Arsenal are still owed a total of around £8m for the Polish international.

Part of that sum, £1.4m, was believed to have been owed to Arsenal this month. However, the Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Derby to defer the payment for Bielik.
