Arsenal lodge 70 million euro bid for star striker

Arsenal need a striker

Arsenal are in desperate need of a striker, and will be even more so come the end of the season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently out of the fold, thanks to a disciplinary breach that also saw him stripped of the Arsenal captaincy. The former skipper is thought to be up for sale this January, leaving Arsenal without a reliable goalscorer.

Meanwhile, both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have just 6 months left to run on their contracts in north London, with both set to leave for free in the summer should they not be renewed, which currently seems unlikely.

And, finally, Folarin Balogun is in desperate need of a loan: an exciting talent but nonetheless well out of his depth at the very top level at this moment in time.

So, it is no surprise seeing the rumours swirl.

Gunners lodge 70 million euro Vlahovic bid

Now, as per reports in Italy, Arsenal have tabled a 70 million euro bid for star marksman Dusan Vlahovic.

The Fiorentina man has netted a whopping 33 Serie A goals across 2021, matching Ronaldo’s best-ever tally in the division, and the pair boast the joint-best return since 1961.

Therefore, it is no surprise to see a whole gaggle of clubs after the La Viola man, with Arsenal thought to be one of those interested. And they could have the advantage, with Fiorentina keen to make Lucas Torreira, a player on-loan to Fiorentina from Arsenal, their player permanently.

As a result, the Gunners have reportedly offered 55 million euros plus the permanent sale of Lucas Torreira (valued at 15 million euros), to secure the services of Vlahovic.

Only time will tell if it pays off.
