Arsenal legend makes big Mikel Arteta claim following North London Derby triumph
Arsenal hammer Tottenham
The first North London Derby of the season took place on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal would host Tottenham knowing that win would see them overtake their London rivals in the table, despite losing their first three games of the PL season.
And, when all was said and done, this is exactly what Mikel Arteta and co. managed.
Arsenal ran riot over Spurs in the first 45. Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka combined for the opening goal, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then adding a second after 27 minutes.
It was then Saka’s turn to get in on the goals minutes later, adding the Gunners’ 3rd of the day with just 34 minutes on the clock.

Heung-min Son pulled one back for the visitors late on but it did not matter.
Arsenal on the up
The win over Spurs would see Mikel Arteta’s men move up to 10th in the Premier League table, a far cry from their 20th place spot after three games.
The north Londoners ae now also just four points off a top-four spot. And with a fairly kind run of fixtures on the horizon, Arsenal fans are no doubt desperate to see their side continue their unbeaten run and continue to climb the table.
Gael Clichy makes big Mikel Arteta claim
Following Arsenal’s win over Tottenham, defender Gael Clichy has made a rather big claim.
The left-back spent eight years at Arsenal, playing under Arsene Wenger.
And now, Clichy has come out and stated that he believes Mikel Arteta could be the next Arsene Wenger in the long term:
“Arteta has so much knowledge and he had the luxury to learn from Pep [Guardiola].
“I really believe in the long term he could be the next Arsene Wenger. He is quite young, and I truly believe, given time, he will prove people wrong.”
