Arsenal in advanced talks with Aaron Ramsdale after fee agreed
Ramsdale fee agreed
Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is a player that Arsenal have seemingly had their eye on all summer. With Bernd Leno entering the final two years of his contract, and current backup Runar Alex Runnarson seemingly departing the club, the need for a number 2 shot-stopper is clear.
Now, as per reliable Arsenal journalist Chris Wheatley, the Gunners have stepped up their chase for the Blades goalkeeper, who was left out of their Carabao Cup encounter against Carlisle on Tuesday evening.

As per the football.london journalist, Arsenal are expected to “pay an upfront fee in the region of £24million for the England international, with performance-related add-ons including number of appearances made potentially reaching the £30million mark.”
The addition of Ramsdale, with the homegrown factor thought to have been key in the decision, will certainly have a knock on effect for Bernd Leno. The current Arsenal number one has less then two years left on his current deal at the Emirates, and there has been no indication thus far that he wil be extending his time in north London.
Arsenal fans react
It is safe to say that Arsenal fans, on social media at least, were not happy with the transfer news that broke on the 23 year old goalkeeper this morning. Many took to twitter to voice their confusion over the deal, and specifically the price-tag.
If Arsenal were insistent on having a homegrown goalkeeper, we should’ve kept Martinez.
Instead, we kept Leno (who hasn’t been sure he wants to stay at the club), sold Martinez for £20m and are now spending £30m on Ramsdale.
Whichever way you look at it, it’s been a mess.

If the people who scouted and brought Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson to Arsenal are the same ones involved in this Ramsdale, they should all be sacked and never be allowed anywhere near Arsenal Football Club. Who spends £30M on a back up keeper when we have more pressing areas to address?

Fair to say that Ramsdale’s signing is the first signing I’ve seen from the club that 100% of the fan base is against. Says a lot! Just got to hope that he proves us wrong.
