Arsenal handed timely midfield boost ahead of Burnley clash
Arsenal have, on Friday, been handed a timely boost on the personnel front, ahead of the club’s meeting with Burnley.
Mikel Arteta and co. are of course set to get their Premier League campaign back underway tomorrow afternoon, with a trip to Turf Moor.
The Gunners will be keen to build on a crucial first win of the season last time out, when they emerged on the right side of a 1-0 scoreline in a clash with fellow strugglers Norwich City at the Emirates.
Prior to their downing of the Canaries, Arsenal had slipped to a trio of successive defeats, at the hands of Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.
As a result, a 4th loss of 2021/22 this weekend could well see the North Londoners slip back into the Premier League relegation zone.
It therefore goes without saying that a personnel boost for Gunners boss Arteta on Friday could not have come at a better time.
The Spaniard has already been forced to deal with a host of issues on the player front this season, with the likes of Thomas Partey, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette having missed time through either fitness woes or Covid-19.
The middle of the park has proven of particular concern at the Emirates, with Arsenal having been forced to field a far-from-first-choice midfield pairing of Sambi Lokonga and Ainsley Maitland-Niles versus Norwich last time out.
If the latest photos stemming from the club’s training base are anything to go by, though, then Arteta’s options look set to be boosted by the return of an altogether more experienced option at Turf Moor.
