A report in Football Italia earlier today cited Italian outlet Il Corriere Fiorentino who stated that the two clubs are willing to meet in the coming weeks to hash out a direction regarding the Uruguayan midfielder after the Firenze-based outfit are keen to make his deal at the Artemio Franchi a permanent one.
Should terms be struck, La Viola can sign the former Sampdoria standout for €15million, which would provide a boost to Arsenal’s finances as the Gunners are primed to embark on their own continued spending at the Emirates.
New lease on life for Torreira
Though his first six months at Arsenal under former boss Unai Emery cut a picture of a player who was set for big things at Arsenal, Lucas Torreira’s stock dropped considerably before eventually becoming surplus to requirements under Mikel Arteta.
But his rebirth at Fiorentina has him primed for rebirth and the 25-year-old has been a revelation in Firenze while starting 11-times this season including the last eight Serie A fixtures on the bounce.
The money received for Torreira, should he move permanently back to Italy, would be a loss on the investment made by Arsenal back in 2018, but any boost to finances at the Emirates could allow the club greater wiggle room in the market as links with interest in the likes of Dušan Vlahović persist.
