Arsenal fans react as Xhaka agrees new deal
Xhaka agrees new deal at Arsenal
Granit Xhaka has been a divisive figure in north London since he joined the Gunners in 2016, and was rumoured to be joining Roma this summer. However, a potential deal fell through over a failure to agree on a fee, and as a result it seems as though Xhaka has now signed a new deal at Arsenal.

In a complete U-turn, it was the Swiss international who captained the side in the absence of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford on the opening day of the season, almost two years on from being stripped of the captaincy after his antics against Crystal Palace.
His new deal will see him remain at the club until 2025, representing a two-year extension to his current deal at The Emirates, and will see Xhaka remain a Gunner until he is 32.
Arsenal fans react
It is safe to say that the decision to offer the Swiss a new contract was met with a mixed reaction.
Granit Xhaka’s value will never be higher than this summer. Coming off a great season with Arsenal and having a top display at the Euros. If we couldn’t get £18m now, why do Arsenal believe we will get more next summer? This extension is a nonsensical decision going forward.

The only top flight club run worse than Arsenal is $1.6 billion in debt. https://t.co/75HAhx0W2K

Xhaka being on the verge of a departure and then a fortnight later captaining the side in the opening game of the season tells you everything you need to know about Arsenal. Poetic for where this club are at.

We could have sold Xhaka for £15m but instead we’ve offered him £120k for 4 years over a £24m+ bonus contract.
Incredible decision making.

I am tired of the slander Xhaka gets, he is a decent player, who can contribute as a squad player, we didnt sell him as the offer was awful, we have a weak mentallity , but Xhaka is a strong character, no problem with this , there are bigger problems thanXhaka at Arsenal

Xhaka being rewarded a new contract sums up how arsenal operate nowadays! Absolutely ridiculous decision #arsenal

Is it the right move, or will Arsenal come to regret their decision?
