Arsenal fans react as star duo doubts for Chelsea game

Arsenal’s forward woes

The Gunners struggled in front of goal last season, netting just 55 goals in the Premier League. As a result, despite having the third-best defensive record, they found themselves finishing in a disappointing eighth place.

Their creative issues are well documented, and a move for Martin Odegaard is seemingly in the pipeline. Further forward though, could there be more sweeping changes?

Lacazette and Aubameyang both doubts for next weekend

Hours before their season opener, Arsenal were deprived of both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the pair being ruled out through unspecified illness.

On the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to new boys Brentford, further bad news compounded their misery, with Football.London reporting that both remain doubts for the Gunners’ next game, against Chelsea at The Emirates.

The club themselves would not be drawn on the situation, Arteta simply saying that:

“[Aubameyang and Lacazette] feel unwell, that’s all I can say.”

Predictably, Arsenal fans were quick to speculate on the future of the pair, who so often seem inseparable.

Clearly then, the Arsenal fanbase (perhaps infuriated by the lack of transparency from the club over the issue), have speculated the worst possible outcome. They are not the only ones either, with Mirror reports that Aubameyang’s Arsenal career could be over with the club “ready to sell” their captain.

If both were somehow to be shifted out of the club, what would the Gunners forward line look like?

Tammy Abraham hopes on the ropes

One player who has been linked with Arsenal for much of the summer is out-of-favour Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham, with the forward having hardly featured for Thomas Tuchel since January.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are “still in the race” for Abraham, but that Roma “have an agreement in place” for the English striker.

Would he be the man to fire Arsenal back towards European places?

More minutes for Martinelli?

Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli could be the latest youngster thrust front and centre (figuratively if not literally), with additional minutes potentially available were Aubameyang to depart the club. The Brazilian is very highly thought of amongst the fanbase, but at just 20 years old, may struggle to make an impression alongside the equally youthful Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

Departures or not, it is clear that Arsenal have a major problem going forward, and that solutions need to be found imminently.
