Arsenal fans handed hope of incomings as midfielder set to depart

Arsenal need reinforcements

Arsenal’s tame start to the season has shone a clear light on the need for further reinforcements at the Emirates stadium before transfer deadline day next week. Missing a host of first-team players through injury and covid, Arsenal’s squad looked threadbare in places, and mediocre in others.

However, as the Telegraph reported earlier, additional reinforcements are unlikely unless players are departing the club this week, with the likes of Hector Bellerin, Willian, Sead Kolasinac and even Alexandre Lacazette all expected to be free to move on this week.

Funds boost imminent as midfielder set to depart

It is another of Arsenal’s forgotten men that is seemingly first to depart, however, in the form of Lucas Torreira. The Uruguayan midfielder spent last campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid, where he made just 17 appearances for Diego Simeone’s title-winning side.

However, as per Football.London correspondent Chris Wheatley, the 25-year-old is set to depart the Emirates again this summer, this time with a return to Italy on the cards.

This comes as the player is reportedly close to signing for Serie A outfit Fiorentina on an initial loan, but as per the report, “the deal is likely to be a loan move with an obligation to buy at the end of it.”

This obligation to buy is unlikely to be anything close to the 25 million pounds the Gunners paid Sampdoria for his services in 2018, but will certainly help the Gunners as they look to fund further business ahead of August 31st.

The loan would also free up further space on the wage bill, with Torreira’s salary thought to be around £75,000 per week (as per sportrac).

Will this help Arsenal get some final incomings through the door?
