Arsenal dealt last-minute injury blow before Southampton

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have, on Friday, been dealt a late blow on the personnel front, ahead of the club’s meeting with Southampton.

Saints next up

The Gunners, of course, are set to return to action tomorrow afternoon.

A Premier League meeting with the aforementioned Southampton lies in wait, in a 3pm kick-off at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will head into proceedings in desperate search of a bounce-back result in north London, after following up an altogether impressive unbeaten run with a hefty three defeats in the club’s last four outings.

The latest of these proved most concerning of all, with Arteta and co. having slipped to a 2-1 loss at Goodison Park, at the hands of an Everton outfit who had previously failed to pick up a single three-point haul since late September.

Auba to miss out?

As such, it goes without saying that all at Arsenal will have their sights firmly set on three points on Saturday afternoon.

As alluded to above, though, with less than 24 hours to go before the action gets underway in the English capital, the Gunners have been dealt an untimely blow.

This comes in the form of the absence of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from training on Friday.

As per a report from the reliable Charles Watts of Goal, the struggling Gabonese hitman did not report to Arsenal’s London Colney base for the club’s final pre-Southampton training session today.

In turn, it is viewed as highly likely that Aubameyang will play no part in tomorrow’s action.

Though an official explanation has not yet been provided for the under-fire veteran’s absence on Friday, ‘there are suggestions that the 32-year-old could be unwell’.
