Arsenal crowd pay tribute to Patrick Vieira after dealing Spurs opening defeat of season

The Arsenal contingent in attendance at the club’s meeting with Norwich City this afternoon have sent a message of thanks to former midfielder Patrick Vieira.

Bottom-of-the-table clash

Mikel Arteta’s men are of course currently locked in action with the Canaries at the Emirates.

The clash marks a crucial one for the Gunners, who, on the back of a trio of successive defeats to open the Premier League season, have essentially been left with no alternative but to secure all three points this afternoon.

But, as things stand midway through the first-half, Norwich have managed to stand firm, with the scoreline currently locked at 0-0.

Vieira love-in

As outlined above, though, early in the action at the Emirates on Saturday, it was not their own side whom large sections of the Arsenal faithful were in fact keen to focus their attentions on.

Instead, the home crowd highlighted the surprisingly heavy defeat suffered by their fiercest rivals a short time ago.

On the back of three straight victories to open the campaign, Tottenham Hotspur made the trip to Selhurst Park this afternoon, aiming to maintain their spot atop the English top-flight table.

When all was said and done, however, the Lilywhites were brought firmly back down to earth, in a harrowing 3-0 defeat.

In turn, after the Spurs support in attendance at Palace aimed a less than subtle dig at their city neighbours on Saturday, the Arsenal faithful were sure to return the favour during their own meeting with Norwich:
