Arsenal announce departure of Alex Runarrson but Sead Kolasinac not joining Fenerbahce

Arsenal confirm Runarsson departure

Arsenal’s much-needed summer clear-out has continued right up until deadline day, as Alex Runarsson is the latest player to depart.

The goalkeeper has joined Belgian side Leuven on a loan deal that will see him depart the club just 12 months, and six appearances after he joined the club from Ligue 1.

As per reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes an option to buy for the Belgian club.

This deal promotes youth star Arthur Okwonko to third-choice goalkeeper, behind Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno.

Kolasinac deal off

However, in bad news for Gunners fans, it appears as though Sead Kolasinac’s potential departure to Turkish side Fenerbahce is now off. The club president, Ali Koc, revealed that:

“Sead Kolasinac’s side [agents] contacted us. They asked for a 3-year contract and 3 million euros per year with a 3 million signing on fee. We didn’t.”

Bosnian could still depart

However, it is thought that the Bosnian is still free to depart north London, with the president continuing that:

“You will see Kolasinac will sign with another club for 1 to 1.5 million euros”

Crucially, it is worth pointing out that this would be wages and not transfer fees, meaning that Arsenal are unlikely to profit on the man they signed on a free in the summer of 2017.

However, his wages would be off the books.
