Apple will launch the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2 later this year

Apple recently rolled out the iOS 16.4 developer release candidate, which includes references to the new AirPods with model code A3048 and a new AirPods case with model designation A2968. According to renowned analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, this is likely the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2 launched last year with a Lightning port, and their massive shipments are expected between 2Q23 and 3Q23.

Kuo hasn’t disclosed anything else about the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2, and it’s unclear if it will just be the AirPods Pro 2 that come in a charging case with USB-C or s there will be other hardware changes.
Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone 15 line this year with a USB-C port instead of the Lightning port, and Kuo says Apple currently has no plans for USB-C versions of the AirPods 2 and 3, which means that the AirPods Pro 2 will likely be Apple’s first TWS headphones to switch from Lightning to USB-C.
