Apple Store employees in India would earn four times the industry standard

Apple, in a rather late move, finally launched two Apple Stores in India earlier this month. The company has appointed groups of highly skilled and tech-savvy staff members to assist all customers visiting the Apple Stores in Mumbai and Delhi. These Apple Store employees in India are said to earn significantly more money than their counterparts working in retail stores of other tech brands. Guards at Apple stores in India donned green t-shirts and stood by Cook last week and greeted customers queuing outside the stores with cheers and applause.

Apple is said to pay around Rs. 1 lakh per month to its employees who tend to its two retail stores in India, according to a report by Economic Times.

Salary reported that the Apple Store offering in India would be up to four times what other tech brands pay their retail store employees monthly.

It is estimated that the American tech giant from Cupertino has recruited around 170 people to run its two Apple Stores in India. It is also clear that Apple did its due diligence before finalizing its team members to take on the responsibility of running the first two stores in India.

Along with high-level degrees in information technology (IT), electrical engineering, robotics and computer applications, Apple has appointed linguistically advanced staff to serve in its Indian retail stores.

Some staff members have also been transferred from other countries to be part of Apple’s retail expansion in India.

In the future, Apple could double or triple its investments in India as well as its exports, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, deputy minister of information technology, told Reuters recently.

Apple CEO, during his visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The meeting sparked discussions on how Apple plans to expand its business and manufacturing in India.
