Antonio Conte left to sweat as key Tottenham attacker forced to sit out international training
Tottenham have been left to sweat over the fitness of Heung-min Son, owing to developments whilst on international duty with South Korea.
Conte in/Nuno out
An exciting new era on the Lilywhite half of north London was of course kicked into motion last week.
This came with those in a position of power having come to the decision to dismiss heavily-maligned summer hire Nuno Espirito Santo, on the back of an underwhelming opening to the campaign.
Even more significant, however, was the man chosen to replace Nuno on the hotseat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The tactician in question? Antonio Conte.
After being rejected by the Italian serial winner during the summer, Daniel Levy and co. returned with an evidently improved pitch this time round, convincing Conte to put pen to paper on terms with the club through 2023.
✍️ We are delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as our Head Coach on a contract until the summer of 2023, with an option to extend.

Son concern
Conte, in turn, has since overseen a pair of fixtures in the Spurs dugout, in the form of a Europa Conference League win over Vitesse, and, most recently, a stalemate with Everton in the Premier League.
Across these outings, the ex-Chelsea boss made clear the players whom he looks set to depend on for the time being, including the likes of Cristian Romero, Emerson Royal, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
It will therefore no doubt come as a major source of concern for the Lilywhites’ new boss to hear that, on Saturday, fitness concerns have emerged over the latter of these stars.
As per Steve Han of Goal, Son was forced to sit out training with the South Korean national squad on Saturday.
This comes with the attacker having picked up what has been described as a ‘minor knock’.
Korea to fly to Doha today for a 3-day camp to face Iraq in #AsianQualifiers. Son Heung-min, Kim Min-jae and Lee Jae-sung didn’t train with the team on Saturday with minor knocks, and they’ll be monitored. Son and Kim so far have trained only once with the team in this camp 🥲
