Antonio Conte hailed for revitalising Tottenham defender’s career after starring display vs Brentford

Viewers of Tottenham’s meeting with Brentford this evening have taken to social media in numbers, to hail Antonio Conte’s influence on one player in particular.

Son amongst the goals

The Lilywhites were of course back in action a short time ago.

After seeing their scheduled meeting with Burnley at the weekend postponed owing to weather conditions, Spurs welcomed the aforementioned Brentford to north London, buoyed by a full week’s rest.

And, when all was said and done, the freshness in the legs of the hosts proved key, en route to a 2-0 triumph.

A Sergi Canos own goal set the ball rolling inside fifteen minutes, before Heung-min Son put the finishing touches on a deserved 3-point haul for Conte’s men with a close-range finish from Sergio Reguilon’s pull-back 25 minutes from time.

The Conte effect

In the aftermath of what most would no doubt argue proved Spurs’ most complete display under the watch of their new boss, however, it is not goalscorer Son, or any other player in the attacking third, however, who has taken centre stage in the post-match chatter.

Instead, this honour has been reserved for defender Ben Davies.

Welsh international Davies looked absolutely superb throughout proceedings this evening, after being utilised on the left-hand side of a 3-man central defensive unit.

And the Tottenham faithful, in turn, have since flooded to social media, to lavish praise on Antonio Conte, for overseeing what could yet prove to be a complete resurgence in Davies’ previously floundering career:
