Conte demands Inter Milan’s Stefan De Vrij
Former Juventus and Chelsea headmaster Antonio Conte continues to be linked to a move to Manchester United to replace under fire boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Old Traford, but has today thrown down another gauntlet in the on-going rumor mill.
According to Football365 while citing a report from Inter Live, Conte would demand that United would demand that the club opens its coffers once more this season and manufacture a January move for Inter Milan defensive stalwart Stefan De Vrij.
The 29-year-old Dutch international – currently valued at €50million via Transfermarkt and out of contract after next season – would be a non-negotiable and necessary move for the club to make if they were to hope the Italian would agree to terms to take the reins at the Theatre of Dreams should Solskjær finally get the sack.

In the report from Inter Live, Conte would demand the “purchase of a loyal player from Inter as early as January” after having successfully upset the Serie A apple cart last season while guiding Inter to their 19th Scudetto and first in 11-seasons, ending Juventus’ nine-straight years of league dominance.
Certainly, Conte would want to establish a back-three at United akin to his successful tactical deployment seen at both Chelsea and Juventus, with De Vrij becoming a chief piece of the puzzle along with Raphaël Varane and Harry Maguire.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær on the brink
After a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool, Ole Gunnar Solskjær is on the brink of the sack as Manchester United boss, with rumors that the former Red Devils striker has lost the dressing room but remains supported at board room level after receiving a temporary lifeline to arrest the situation on the pitch.

As links with Antonio Conte being targeted as his immediate replacement should he fail to avoid the sack, the Norwegian has just three matches with which to save his job at Old Trafford.
United – who have lost three of their last four and taken just one point while sitting seventh in the table – clash with Tottenham and Manchester City in the league, while a difficult away day in Bergamo awaits as they square off with Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium in the middle of next week.
Though some doubt whether or not Conte is the right man to replace OGS at the Theatre of Dreams, it is imperative that the club make the right decision before the time horizon passes.
