Angelo Agrizzi’s bail application denied in corruption and bribery case

Angelo Agrizzi, who is the former chief operations officer of Bosasa has been denied bail by the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court following the argument that ensued with the State that he is a flight risk.

Agrizzi is faced with charges of corruption and bribery, alongside former ANC Member of Parliament Vincent Smith, after the latter was discovered to have gotten monies from Bosasa, which amounted to R800,000.

Magistrate Phillip Venter said he is on a satisfactory note with the State’s case that Agrizzi is financially capable to live a comfortable lifestyle beyond the country’s borders.

It also appears that he may move to Italy after he and his wife transferred funds worth R24 million to offshore accounts over there and purchased property.

State prosecutors brought evidence before the court, indicating the Agrizzi’s failure to provide all his assets to the court today and when he came before the Pretoria Specialised Crimes Court in 2019.
