Andy Robertson equals Arsenal icon in Premier League record books vs Southampton
Liverpool star Andrew Robertson has matched an impressive Premier League tally this afternoon, during his side’s meeting with Southampton.
Jota on target
Jurgen Klopp’s men are of course currently locked in action.
In their latest league outing, the Reds welcomed Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton to Anfield, desperate to keep the pressure on table-topping Chelsea.
And, as things stand on Saturday, Liverpool are well on their way towards precisely that.
Early in the action on Merseyside, the hosts lead by a goal to nil, owing to a brilliantly worked team goal inside the opening 120 seconds.
After some fine work down the left between Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson, the latter squared the ball across the face, where the awaiting Diogo Jota was on hand to slot home from close range:

As alluded to above, though, in the aftermath of Liverpool’s opener versus Southampton, it is not goalscorer Jota who has in fact seen his name take centre stage across social media.
Instead, this honour has been reserved for the man who teed up his Portuguese teammate’s strike.
As revealed by William Hill, Andy Robertson’s latest assist marked his 41st in the Premier League, of course a hugely impressive tally for a defender.
Making the feat an even more noteworthy one, though, is the fact that it saw the Scottish international move level with Arsenal and Premier League legend Robert Pires in the history books of the English top-flight:
Andy Robertson has now provided as many Premier League assists as Robert Pires (41).
