Andor Trailer: Star Wars Series Gets New September 21 Release Date

Andor, the upcoming Star Wars original series, has a new official trailer. The 12-episode series is set before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and follows the journey of Rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), as he battles the Empire to become a “Rebel Hero”. . Andor was originally scheduled to air on August 31, but has since been delayed by almost a month. Andor debuts exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar with a three-episode premiere on September 21.

Although Disney didn’t explain the delay, we could assume the decision was made to avoid an overlap with the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series. She-Hulkwhich starts streaming on August 17. Andor The trailer begins with a voiceover from the titular Rebel spy (Diego Luna), as we see the Empire’s regime go from strength to strength. “To rob the Empire, you walk in as if you belong,” Andor says as he plans his infiltration into the organization. We’re also given a brief glimpse of his childhood, climbing through the crevices – proving his story and experience.

Meanwhile, Luther Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) tries to talk him out of the dangerous mission, saying, “The Empire is suffocating us so slowly. We are beginning to not notice it. What I’m asking is this, wouldn’t you rather give your all to something real? ” The Andor The trailer then gives some quick glimpses of the real-world locations in which the Star Wars series was filmed.

In previous Star Wars projects, such as Mandalorian, the team used LED screens to project a virtual background. The technology predates Rogue One, where cinematographer Greig Fraser came up with the idea to avoid the weird lighting issues of green screen. A similar technique was also used for some desert scenes in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune.

In an interview with Empire, leader Luna talked about the experience of filming the Star Wars series in real-life locations. “In Pitlochry, Scotland, we had to walk for hours on a mountain to prepare a plan. Huge effort. Really dangerous to get there. All you can see around you is the sky, the trees, the rivers, the lakes. Unbelievable! Like being on another planet.

the Andor The trailer then turns into a montage of chaos, as Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) declares war on the Empire. Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) is an Empire Senator who secretly tries to help found the Rebel Alliance.

Andor also stars Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw. Tony Gilroy (Thick headed trilogy) is creator and showrunner of the Star Wars series, and also executive producer alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Michelle Rejwan and Luna.

The Star Wars studio also has plans for a second season, with multiple time jumps as a narrative tool. It is expected to begin production this fall and is also expected to have 12 episodes.

Andor premieres September 21, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar. Disney and Lucasfilm also unveiled a new poster for the new Star Wars show, as seen below.
