‘An inspired signing’: Rio Ferdinand heaps praise on Arsenal star
Arsenal’s 2021 summer window
Arsenal had a fairly active summer transfer window in which they brought in six senior players.
All of these players were also under the age of 24 at the time of signing and look to represent some smart business from the north Londoners.
In Aaron Ramsdale, they already appear to have found their new no.1 keeper for the next several years.
Martin Odegaard is of course an extremely creative player who still has the potential to develop further.
Albert Sambi Lokonga also looks set for a bright future at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield, though he is still perhaps a year or so away from being ready to start week in week out.
Elsewhere, though a somewhat underappreciated signing at the time, Takehiro Tomiyasu has already cemented himself as Arsenal’s new no.1 right-back and his starring displays
Finally, Ben White is forming a great partnership with Gabriel at centre-back, whilst Nuno Tavares is adequate left-back cover.
Ferdinand praises Ramsdale
And whilst all of the signings have shown signs of quality so far during their stint in north London, one of the better bits of business done by the Gunners does look to have been the signing of Aaron Ramsdale.
After being relegated and shipping a ton of goals with both Bournemouth and Sheffield United, some eyebrows were raised at Arsenal’s decision to sign the 23-year-old.
However, Ramsdale has been one of the best keepers in the Premier League this season, perhaps only second to Edouard Mendy of Chelsea.
And now, Ramsdale has been labelled as an inspired signing by former Manchester United man, Rio Ferdinand:
“Ramsdale has been an inspired signing.
“There were a lot of people doubting him, he has had two or three relegations in his career already, in his young career, but the saves that he is making on a regular basis, he is actually enabling you lot (Arsenal fans) to keep clean sheets.
“Six clean sheets in 10 games is phenomenal.”
