AIIMS Delhi to be equipped with 5G network by June 30 for maximum utilization of modern technology

To enable maximum use of modern communication technologies for patient care, teaching, research and good governance, AIIMS has decided to equip itself with a 5G network by June 30. officials said.

A five-member committee has been set up to expedite the process, said a memorandum from the office, issued by the director, Professor M Srinivas.

“In line with current trends and to enable maximum use of modern communication technologies for patient care, teaching, research, good governance and optimal deployment of the Integrated Medical University Information System (IMUIS), it is desirable that the entire AIIMS, New Delhi campus has good 5G mobile network strength to enable robust mobile and data connectivity inside buildings,” Srinivas said.

The committee will be headed by Prof. Vivek Tandon, AIIMS Department of Neurosurgery, and members include Dr. Vivek Gupta (Computer Facility), Superintendent Engineer Jitendra Saxena and Dr. Vikas of Telecommunications as Committee Member Secretary, and Sunita Cherodath, senior deputy general manager, telecommunications department will be a special guest.

Strong 5G connectivity will also help AIIMS, New Delhi in implementing health insurance and eICU solutions at its core and outreach campuses like NCI Jhajjar, which in turn will enable senior faculty to deliver their expert advice during rest hours, vacations, etc. GOOD.

According to administration officials, AIIMS in Delhi has a daily attendance of around 50,000 people and good mobile connectivity is essential. It was noted that there are currently many black spots in the Institute with zero to very poor mobile connectivity causing great inconvenience to patients, staff and visitors. Additionally, 3G/4G data connectivity is very limited in the majority of areas and 5G connectivity is almost zero inside the Institute buildings.
