Age of Empires 2: Dynasties of India Definitive Edition expansion adds Bengalis, Dravidians and Gurjaras

Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition will receive a third expansion titled Dynasties of India on April 28, publisher Xbox Game Studios announced Thursday. The latest expansion pack of the popular real-time strategy (RTS) game is now available for pre-order – at Rs. 265 – ahead of the official release date. Dynasties of India will bring three new civilizations to the game, with unique units and technologies. Players will be able to embark on three new campaigns across the country and choose from three new campaigns with Indian characters with the Dynasties of India expansion.

How to buy Age of Empires 2: Dynasties of India

On Thursday, the developers of Age of Empire 2: Definitive Edition announced the next Dynasties of India expansion on the official website. It will be released on Microsoft Store and on Steam. The three new civilizations which accompany the dynasties of India are the Bengalis, the Dravidians and the Gurjaras. Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition will also receive three new fully voiced campaigns for Babur, Devapala and Rajendra.

Age of Empires 2: Dynasties of India – Bengalis

The new Bengali civilization will feature a unique unit called Ratha (Tank in Hindi) offering both melee and ranged attack modes. This civilization focuses on Elephant and Naval units, and researching their unique Paiks technology will help improve Elephant units and Rathas. Bengali ships will also be able to regenerate 15 health points (HP) per minute, and Town Centers will spawn two new villagers when aging to the next. Mahayana technology will also reduce the space occupied by a villager, allowing for greater economy.

Age of Empires 2: Dynasties of India — Dravidians

On the other hand, the Dravidian civilization will allow players to build a maritime empire. You can rely on special units like the Thirisadai, a ship to control the seas, and the Urumi Swordsman infantry unit with a flexible slashing sword. Focusing on infantry and naval units, Wootz Steel technology will allow units to ignore enemy unit armor. The docks of this civilization and its allies will have more room for the population. Moving to the next age will grant an additional 200 wood, and researching Medical Corps tech will allow elephant units to regenerate 20 HP per minute.

Age of Empires 2: Dynasties of India — Gurjaras

Unlike Bengalis and Dravidians, the Gurjaras civilization focuses on cavalry and camel. It includes two special units: the Shrivamsha Rider, a cavalry unit that can dodge enemy attacks, and the Chakram Thrower infantry unit that throws metal discs. Instead of a scout cavalry unit, Gurjaras will start with a camel scout and can research Frontier Guards tech for additional melee armor for all Gurjara Camelry. This civilization will allow players to garrison livestock in mills for an infinite (but slow) supply of food. Fishing vessels can also be garrisoned in Gurjara Docks during an attack, while researching Kshatriya Technology will reduce food costs by 25% for all military units.

Indian civilization is now Hindustania

Players who do not purchase the Dynasties of India expansion will still be able to access the Hindustani civilization (formerly known as the Indians) with the heavily armored infantry unit Ghulam and the Imperial Camel Rider, both units Hindustani specials in the game. This civilization focuses on gunpowder and camel units, and can research Shatagni technology to increase the range of hand gunners. Villagers will be cheaper to produce than other civilizations, and researching the Grand Trunk Road will increase gold income from all sources. A special building called the Caravanserai will also help regenerate the HP of any nearby trade units.

Age of Empires 2: Dynasties of India new campaigns

The upcoming Dynasties of India expansion will also add three new fully voiced campaigns. The first campaign allows users to play as Tatars and Hindustanis, following the story of Zahir ud-Din Muhammad, also known as Babur, who seeks to restore his crumbling empire. The next campaign is playable as the Dravidian civilization and involves playing as Rajendra Chola, as he works to expand his inherited empire in the South and reduce corruption in the process. The third campaign can be played as a Bengalis, with the story of Devapala, who must face rivals to his throne.
