Acer Swift laptops get new names and looks at CES 2023

Acer has refreshed both the design and the names of its Swift laptops.

The range includes the Swift Go, a thin and light laptop designed for everyday use. It’s joined by the flagship Acer Swift 14 for those who want a premium design, as well as the Acer Swift X 14 if you’re looking for more powerful performance.

Tech Advisor got a first look at all of the models in the Swift 2023 lineup, which were unveiled at CES 2023. The laptops will release over the next few months, with prices starting at $899/£899/€999 for the Swift Come on, $1,299/€1,699 for the Swift 14 and $1,199/€1,499 for the Swift X 14. We’re still awaiting UK prices for some models.

The Swift Go is a refresh of the Swift 3. It comes in two sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch and a silver or metallic gray finish. There is also a range of configurations to suit different budgets. The laptops live up to the Go name with a slim design, weighing under 1.3kg for the smallest model and under 1.4kg for the largest laptop.

All Swift range laptops have a wide range of ports – this includes USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 and a MicroSD card reader on the Go and X 14. Some comparable models like Lenovo only opt only for USB-C ports with an adapter in the box, so it’s good to see that Acer has retained so many ports.

With slim bezels that create a 90% screen-to-body ratio, these are devices that would be ideal for use around the home for streaming and other activities. Of course, if you’re looking for everyday productivity, some models in the Go range are still perfectly suited for work and play.

High-end models (the SFG16-71 and SFG14-71) come with the last 13^e gen Intel H-series processors, as well as touchscreen OLED displays with 2.8K resolution on the 14-inch model and 3.2K resolution on the 16-inch. A major design change is the addition of a 16:10 ratio, a more common format we’ve been seeing on laptops lately.

The Swift Go doesn’t exactly stand out when it comes to design, so if you’re looking for something a little flashier and more premium, the Swift 14 is the laptop to look at. It’s the successor to the previous generation Swift 5 – with Acer opting for a name that reflects the laptop’s screen size.

The Swift 14 has a machined unibody chassis, as well as an aerospace-grade aluminum body. It comes in two colors: Mist Green and Steam Blue. I can’t speak to the former, but the latter has a sleek finish that stands out from the crowd.

Like the Swift Go, the Swift 14 also features Intel’s new H-Series processors, a touchscreen, an estimated 9.5 hour battery life and a range of connectivity ports.

The lineup is rounded out by the Acer Swift X 14, a model in the Swift X line. This device features an advanced processor and discrete GPU, with the option of up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 405. laptop is NVIDIA Studio validated and includes a large fan, input keyboard, and dual D6 copper heat pipes to keep everything cool. while you are working.

Although not touchscreen, this device comes with a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. It doesn’t have the stunning good looks of the flagship Swift 14, but it’s definitely the best option in the range if you’re planning on undertaking heavy creative work.
