Abraham switches capitals; move to Roma complete with buy-back clause

Tammy Abraham finally has direction in what was a stalling career at Chelsea after officially completing his move to Serie A outfit AS Roma earlier this morning.

The London-native and Chelsea youth product will now lead the line in the eternal city after Edin Dzeko’s departure to Inter Milan and has signed on the dotted line in a deal that will net him £6million-a-year.

The player is keen to get started on his new chapter at the Stadio Olimpico, sighting his winning experience with the Blues and a desire to help Roma push for honors;

“Roma is a club that deserves to be fighting for titles and trophies. I’ve had the experience of winning major trophies and I want to be in those competitions again – so I want to help this team to achieve that and get to the level where Roma should be. It’s a massive honour to be the No 9 at this club and I just can’t wait to get started and to help the team.”

Abraham struggled to make himself valuable under Thomas Tuchel since the German tactician came in halfway through last season in the wake of Frank Lampard’s sacking, but despite that, Chelsea has included a buy-back clause which they can trigger after two seasons but would set the club back a reported £68million if they are to sanction a reunion in the future.

Two strikers lighter at Chelsea as Batshuayi completes loan move to Besiktas

Belgian international center-forward Michy Batshuayi is once again finding temporary living arrangements elsewhere as the Brussels-native completed his loan move to Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas.

After arriving at Chelsea back in 2016-17 from Olympique de Marseille, the Standard Liege youth product has hardly left a fingerprint on the Blues’ fortunes at home or abroad, scoring just 25 goals in 77-appearances across the last five seasons at Stamford Bridge.

The move to the Turkish capital makes it the fifth occasion where Batshuayi was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, but the club remains unable to find a suitable buyer. He has had two brief periods of success of his Condottieri travels; scoring 9-goals in 14-appearances for Borussia Dortmund in 2017-18 after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was sold to Arsenal, and the following year when he bagged 6-goals in thirteen outings for Crystal Palace.

Olympique Lyonnais tracking Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri

Chelsea continues their bid to streamline the first-team squad this summer and Emerson Palmieri could be another name out of Stamford Bridge, with the Italian international being tracked by Olympique Lyonnais.

Palmieri, who made four appearances this summer at Euro 2020 en route to winning the competition with Italy, is firmly behind in the pecking order with both Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso ahead of him under Thomas Tuchel.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted as recently as yesterday that the Ligue 1 outfit is sounding out reinforcements at left-back amidst growing interest from Burnley in Maxwell Cornet, with Emerson one of a handful of targets on their radar, while Sky Sports have said similar earlier today.
