3rd Juventus star emerges as doubt for Chelsea clash

3rd Juventus star emerges as doubt for Chelsea clash

The personnel woes of Italian giants Juventus have continued to mount, ahead of the club’s upcoming showdown with Chelsea.

Samp thriller

The Bianconeri returned to action this past weekend.

On the back of a less than impressive opening to the new campaign, Max Allegri’s men welcomed Sampdoria to the Allianz Stadium, aiming to make it back-to-back Serie A wins for the first time in 2021/22.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what Juve managed.

Amid yet another concerning display, the Old Lady ultimately found the three goals required to emerge on the right side of a 5-goal thriller.

Paulo Dybala, Leonardo Bonucci and summer addition Manuel Locatelli were all on target, to guide the struggling Turin outfit into the top half of the Serie A table.

Rabiot concern

Juventus’ latest 3-point haul, however, came at a cost, and a considerable one at that.

This comes with starting front pairing Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata having both been forced to limp out of proceedings with respective injury problems.

The former’s proved particularly concerning, with the Bianconeri’s no.10 having been in tears in making his way off the pitch:

And the post-match update on the situation did not exactly prove of a much more encouraging nature.

Speaking to the awaiting media, Juve boss Allegri confirmed that both of his key attackers have been ruled out of the club’s highly-anticipated Champions League showdown with European champions Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The woes of the Turin giants, though, have since only continued to mount.

On Monday evening, an update on the wellbeing of another of the Old Lady’s key performers was forthcoming online.

The player in question? Adrien Rabiot.

French midfielder Rabiot was forced to sit out the action versus Sampdoria, after picking up an ankle injury in training during the week. The former PSG star, however, was expected to return to contention in time for Wednesday’s latest round of Champions League group stage action.

But, if the latest word in the Italian media is anything to go by, then such a development, as things stand, appears altogether doubtful.

As per Nicola Balice of Calciomercato, Rabiot was forced to train alone once again on Monday, with his availability to face Chelsea, as a result, remaining up in the air.
