3 times Bologna take-home? Insight provided into new signing Tomiyasu’s Arsenal wages

Word stemming from the Italian media on Friday has provided an insight into the kind of money being earned by new Arsenal signing Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Gunners making moves

It of course proved an altogether eventful summer on the red half of North London.

Amid the ongoing efforts of Arteta and co. to overhaul the club’s playing squad, a host of changes were forthcoming, both on the incomings and outgoings front.

The Gunners, either permanently or on a loan basis, parted ways with the likes of David Luiz, Lucas Torreira, Hector Bellerin, Joe Willock and Matteo Guendouzi.

And, though the majority of the club’s supporters were left feeling somewhat underwhelmed, those in a position of power at the Emirates were also not shy in splashing the cash.

All of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares and Martin Odegaard linked up with Arsenal over the last couple of months.

Tomi’s take home

Last through the door, on deadline day earlier this week, meanwhile, was Takehiro Tomiyasu.

On the back of Bellerin’s loan move to Real Betis, the Gunners quickly swooped to add some long overdue reinforcements at right-back, luring Japanese international Tomiyasu to the English capital from Serie A outfit Bologna.

Speaking on Thursday, Mikel Arteta provided his take on the kind of player which Arsenal’s supporters can look forward to cheering on over the seasons ahead, explaining:

‘We followed him for a while.’

‘We needed a full back who could be very versatile, can play as a centre back, can play in a back three, Tomi has this capacity.’

‘He is 22 years old but he has some really good experience in Serie A and at international level and with the qualities we are looking for.’

And now, on Friday, a further insight into Tomiyasu’s Emirates switch has been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of Italian outlet the Corriere di Bologna (as cited by the Daily Cannon), who have provided an idea of the kind of wage packet which the 22-year-old has secured in North London.

Although an exact figure is not revealed, it is suggested that ‘Tomi’ will take home around three times the money which he previously earned with Bologna.

The Daily Cannon, in turn, point towards a sum of around £40,000-per-week, an altogether reasonable financial package when considering the outlandish wages forked out by so many of Europe’s top clubs in the modern market.
